CU libraries and access to their resources



CU employees

CU employees can access university libraries and electronic resources.


The following is required for registration at a CU library:

1. A valid CU ID card,

2. Your password for the CU Central Authentication Service

3. Confirmation of electronic consent.


The form of borrowing and the number of titles that can be borrowed are set out in the “Library and Lending Regulations of Charles University” – see Documents.


Electronic resources are available to employees (in accordance with the licensing terms) both from the university network and outside the network using the login data for the CU Central AuthenticationService.


The following is required to use CU electronic resources:

1. A valid CU ID card,

2. Your password for the CU Central Authentication Service


The use of electronic resources is set out in the “Library and Lending Regulations of Charles University” – see Documents. More information is available on the web pages of the Central Library.

You can find a list of the university’s libraries on the web pages of the Central Library.


You can search for printed titles in the CU central catalogue or in the central search engine UKAŽ, which searches for printed and electronic publications. You can find an overview of the online databases and other electronic resources in the CU Portal of Electronic Resources.

For printed and electronic documents, you can also use the interlibrary loan service. More information is available in the libraries.



CU Alumni Club members

Members of the CU Alumni Club can access the university libraries.


The following is required for registration at a CU library and/or for using electronic resources:

1. A valid CU Alumni Club ID card,

2. Your password for the CU Central Authentication Service

3. Confirmation of electronic consent.


The rules for using the services are set out in the “Library and Lending Regulations of Charles University” – see Documents. For library services, CU Alumni Club members are registered in the category “Public” – see Overview of Lending Rules for the Public.


Electronic resources are available to members of the CU Alumni Club (in accordance with the licensing terms) at the individual libraries and, to a limited extent, outside the libraries, using the login data for the CU Central Authentication Service. An overview of online databases available outside the CU libraries can be found at the CU Portal of Electronic Resources. You can find a list of all university libraries on the web pages of the Central Library.
