Too often writers believe that ‘academic writing’ involves complex language and flowery style. In this workshop, you will learn how to make your academic writing dynamic, clear and reader-friendly.

Do you sometimes find yourself reading an academic text with ease, following the writer’s train of thought from one point to the next? Does the text seem clear and logical? On the other hand, are you sometimes frustrated when reading a text that is confusing, with the meaning hidden in vague, wordy phrases and poorly constructed sentences? Too often writers believe that ‘academic writing’ involves complex language and flowery style. In this workshop, you will learn how to make your academic writing dynamic, clear and reader-friendly. This will be done by analysing sample texts and engaging in activities to illustrate the principles of writing logical, coherent research articles.

In the second session of this two-part workshop, we will work on some texts you submit as we apply the principles of cohesion and coherence.
