Are you an international researcher employed at Charles University? Would you like to swap the office or lab for the open countryside, meet new people, and discover a slightly different side of the Czech capital? If so, we invite you to the event "Walk & Talk Prague: From Čimice to Troja", an informal walk in Prague’s natural surroundings!
Walk & Talk Prague: From Čimice to Troja
Through the Valley & Along the River
📅 When? Friday, June 19, 2026 at 15:00
📍 Meeting Point: „Sídliště Čimice“ Bus Stop (buses no. 145, 152 and 169 go there from Kobylisy metro station on the line "C")
Approx. distance: 8 – 9 km
📍 Ending Point: „Podhoří“ Bus Stop (bus no. 234 goes to Nádraží Holešovice metro station on the line "C")
Our walk will begin at the “Sídliště Čimice” bus stop in the Čimice quarter. From there, we’ll head through a windbreak to the Drahanské údolí (Drahan Valley)—an area that may be permanently altered in the near future by the construction of the northern Prague ring road. Today, The Drahanské údolí is still a beautiful and quiet green valley on the very northern edge of Prague, where we’ll pass the Drahaň Mill and a number of smaller cottages and private vacation homes along the way. Before we reach the banks of the Vltava River, we’ll make a short detour to the Zámky lookout; from this rock towering above the river, there’s a beautiful view of the Vltava Valley. If we’re lucky, we might even spot a few grazing animals there! We will then descend to the banks of the Vltava, which we will follow for the remainder of the second part of the walk. On the right side, we’ll have the river; on our left, cliffs will tower above us, and along the path below them, we will come across several snack bars where we can satisfy our hunger and thirst. We will end the walk at the “Podhoří” bus stop in Troja, from where you can individually take a bus to the nearest metro station, or prolong your trip by taking a ferry boat to the other side of the river (from where you can take another buses to the city centre).
Come discover Prague as it may soon no longer be!
