Pitching Your Research Idea: Crafting an Effective Presentation

Whether you need to prepare a conference presentation, a short research pitch or discuss your work in an informal setting, the ability to communicate your research clearly and persuasively is an essential skill for every Ph.D. candidate. But how can you distill a complex topic into just a few minutes while keeping your audience engaged?

In this interactive online workshop, you will learn how to develop a concise and compelling research pitch—whether for a 3-minute presentation or a longer presentation for your grant proposal. The session will focus on transforming complex ideas into a clear, engaging narrative that highlights the core message and significance of your work. You’ll explore practical strategies for structuring your pitch and emphasizing the novelty and impact of your research while considering your target audience.

Although the workshop is held online, it is designed to be highly interactive. You’ll be expected to actively participate in discussions and complete tasks related to the topic, either individually or in pairs/small groups.
