Research is the main content of every academic work. It includes mostly writing and publishing papers and even books. If you are dealing with your academic texts in English and you are not sure about the grammar, punctuation, and spelling, you could use consultations with a native speaker of English. Try proofreading!

Differences between proofreading and editing:

Proofreading aims at identifying errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. The proofreader also searches and identifies inconsistencies, for example, in terminology and formatting. Changes in the text are minimal, mostly of "cosmetic" character.

Editing can bring bigger or more substantial changes to the text. It aims at structure and meaning of the text, improving the way of expressing the ideas, on readability and appropriate use of words, terms, and style. The first possibility is that the editor may come up with suggestions on how to improve the way of expressing your ideas. You can also get recommendations on readability and the appropriate use of words, terms and style. The second possibility is that the editor may ask questions about your ideas or the aims of your research and come up with suggestions on expressing them. It aims at the structure and meaning of the text.

I work with doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in various branches of science, education, engineering, humanities, and economics. This may be consultancy work if the structure and content of a text need attention; or it may be proofreading for accuracy and reader-friendly style.

How it works:

After your registration, you obtain a contact on the lecturer. Then you arrange private meetings, time, and frequency of your consultations with the lecturer. This opportunity is limited by the number of pages of your text - max 30 pages.
