Welcome Day 2025/26

You made it! Welcome to Czechia, welcome to Prague/Hradec Králové/Plzeň, and welcome to Charles University! We invite you to the traditional opening of the 2025/2026 academic year at Charles University, which will take place on October 1 at the Kampus Hybernská!

All academic beings are invited and welcome, especially our new international students starting their bachelors, masters, or doctoral studies at CU. This is also probably the best opportunity to meet local students from around the faculties. You can look forward to presentations by student associations, live music, icebreaker activities, pub quizzes, and even free non-alcoholic beer. Come meet new people, have fun, and start the new academic year with us.

The program will run from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Admission is free.

14:30–16:00 Welcome Day for Ph.D. (E.1) Information meeting for new Ph.D. candidates focused on practical tips for doctoral studies and sharing experiences.

16:00 Official opening of the event (all Campus spaces)

16:00–19:00 4EU+ booth (garage) Learn about the 4EU+ Alliance and the opportunities it offers to the students of Charles University.

What else is prepared

Bingo will be running throughout the event (all Campus spaces). Participants can visit different association booths, learn interesting information, meet new people, and fill in their bingo cards. You can join anytime.

In the courtyard, there will be a beer stand (open until 21:30) and Bistro u býka with refreshments (open until 20:00). A Charles University merchandise stand with Czech and English promotional items will also be open during the whole event.

Starting at 17:00, the Instagram competition kicks off – rules can be found on leaflets and posters. Winners will be announced online.

Important notice:

For security reasons and due to the large number of visitors, please do not bring large backpacks or bags. If necessary, the event’s security may carry out random checks. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
