Newsletter

 for International Students

Dear International Students,

This month, we bring you a newsletter full of interesting information and events. Exams are still a long way off, so we hope you can find the time and we’ll see you at one of our events. Whether you choose an event focused on education, mental health, or volunteering, we’ll leave that up to you.

If you just want to have fun and get to know your Czech or international classmates, we invite you to International Středa, Mezinárodní Wednesdays, held every week at the Hybernská Campus! And don’t forget to scroll down to the Student Acivities section, where you will find, for example, an invitation to the Student Majáles.

We wish you a wonderful spring!

Your CU Point

Spring Clothes Collection

Building Birdhouses

APR 22 The Volunteering Centre invites you to an Earth Day event organised together with Hnutí Brontosaurus! Together, we will build birdhouses and hang them on trees in the area of the MFF UK in Troja.

HYB4 Music: Hybrid Sessions

25 APR Campus Hybernská features again an improvised duo with two musicians coming from different backgrounds (vocals, double bass and electronics) to form a new constellation. Afterwards, there is an open jam session.

Sleep Hygiene, Understanding Insomnia

25 APR Join us online as we delve into the neuropsychology of sleep and discover the reasoning behind healthy sleep recommendations. Reassess your sleeping habits and gain insights into dealing with insomnia.

HYB4 Plant Swap

26 to 27 APR Bring plants that will make others happy and swap them for ones that will make you happy. Collect a maximum of five plants. You can also enjoy several workshops, lectures, and other craftwork that go along with spring.

Academic Writing: Practical Tips and Guidance

6 MAY Join our workshop for undergraduate students. Gain practical tips to excel in your essays. Share your challenges by 15 April in order to tailor the session to your needs.

Psychological Assistance

Psychologists from the Carolina Centre and various professional workplaces outside of CU still offer individual consultation. You can sign up using the counselling centre application or via e-mail: psych.pomoc@cuni.cz.

Support Groups in English

In a support group, you’ll realize that you are not alone with your problems and difficulties. You’ll work towards finding a solution. And who knows, you might even have a laugh or two along the way!

Student Activities

The EGEA (European Geography Association for Students and Young Geographers) is an organization bringing together students of Geography from all across Europe. At the Faculty of Science, Charles University (at the “local level”), we organize travel lectures, geography quizzes, discussions with teachers, and other events, mostly in Czech. More information on our facebook.

However, we are always happy to communicate in English. So if you are interested in participating in our monthly meetings (every first Wednesday of the month) and discussing Geography or everything related, you are warmly invited to our student group. At the European level (where English is the main language of communication), the EGEA organizes congresses, scientific conferences, and exchanges. The entire EGEA network operates on the principle of “from students to students”, which allows us to travel abroad at a small cost. Learn more about us and let’s “Experience Geography, explore Europe!” together.

International středa, mezinárodní Wednesday

Informal gatherings, pub quizes, lectures, board games, and so much more! This regular event takes place every Wednesday evening at the Prague's Hybernská Campus and once a month at the Pilsen's Dominik Café.

Meet Our Student Ambassadors

Meet the new friendly face of one of our student ambassadors - Daniela Mendes from Portugal. She is currently in her sixth year as a General Medicine student at the LF3. She became an ambassador to help others, so do not hesitate to get in touch with her.

Run for Life

15 APR The seventh year of the Run for Life charity run will take place in Šimkovy sady in Hradec Králové. Students will donate all proceeds from the event to support little Vojtíšek, suffering from septo-optic dysplasia with optic atrophy.

World Health Day

20 APR Students from the IFMSA have prepared several preventive examinations as part of World Health Day. They will have a stand at the Černý Most Shopping Centre in Prague, the Plaza Shopping Centre in Pilsen, and Aupark in Hradec Králové.

Faculty of Social Sciences Night

25 APR The aim of this night is to present the new campus in Jinonice. The programme will consist of lectures, workshops, tours of the building or, for example, a silent disco. Students from outside the Faculty are also welcome.

Student Majales

1 MAY The 12th annual Student Majales will take place at Campus Hybernská! Experience the unique and unmistakable student culture without an entrance fee. You will enrich both your spirit and your mind.
